Robert Kent Bates

Robert Kent Bates - Passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Emmanuel House with his loving wife Lynn and best friend of 34 years by his side.

Bob is survived by his children, Bill (Cheryl), Debbie (Max), Ron (Beatrice), Allan (Joanne), pre- deceased Dan (Diane), step-children Leanne (Chris) and Brad (Jessica). Survived by 19 grandchildren, 9 great- grandchildren and 4 step-grand- children. Siblings Brian, David and Linda (deceased), Mary, Midge (Bill), Frank (Sharon), Cheryl (Tony), deceased Isabel (Bob), Jim and Gord. He was a man of many names, Dad, Pops, Grandpa, Poppy, Bobcat, Batesy and he answered to them all. He was a very adventurous man, trying most anything. Bob spent many years behind the wheel of his tractor-trailer driving down the big street with over a million miles under his belt. He loved to travel, play golf, pilot small planes, scuba diving, playing cards and snooker with the boys at the Dundas Seniors. Bob spent the last 2 summers riding with his boys "Sons of Bob". He has had the big "C" in his body for 11 years. In 2014 it really took over his body. Bob is not fighting to breathe anymore - he is resting peacefully.

A special thank you to Dr. M. Goffin, Dr. N. Mercanti, Dr. E. Zamora, Dr. Winemaker, Mui his nurse, CCAC, Hamilton Family Health, for all your care and support.

"Burn what is left of me, and scatter the ashes to the wind to help the flowers grow. If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses and all prejudices against my fellow man. If by chance you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you. If you do all I have asked, I will live forever."

There will be refreshments served in the Church Parlour after the service.

There is not a lot of parking at the church – there is a public parking lot on Park St. and there is parking on the street wherever you can find it. The snow piles on the streets does not help. King Street has parking also and it is just a block away from the Church.
